Eudora Welty's parents built this Tudor Revival house in Jackson in 1925. She lived here from age sixteen until her death in 2001.
She wrote at a desk in her upstairs bedroom, pinning drafts together with straight pins, and the garden her mother planted became a subject of her work.
Welty left the house to the state of Mississippi. It is kept as she left it, down to the books stacked in every room.
