Architects Charles and Henry Greene built this house in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of Procter & Gamble as a winter home in Pasadena.
The Greenes designed almost everything — furniture, rugs, lamps, leaded glass — and the teak and mahogany joinery is finished like fine furniture.
The Gamble family gave the house to the City of Pasadena and the University of Southern California in 1966. It is a National Historic Landmark.
