Oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny built Greystone in 1928 as a wedding gift for his son Ned and his family.

Months later, in February 1929, Ned Doheny and his aide Hugh Plunkett were found dead in the house.

The City of Beverly Hills bought the property in 1965, and it has since appeared in many films.
