Content standards & safeguards
Homestalgia is a public record of places and the people who loved them. To keep it trustworthy for homeowners and safe for the licensed professionals who stake their name on it, everything published here passes an automatic review first.
Every story, comment, caption and photo is automatically screened before it publishes. Most posts go straight up. Anything that looks like a fair-housing, privacy or advertising-law problem is either held for a human review or refused with a plain-English reason so you can edit and try again.
Fair housing (the one with real legal teeth)
- Describe the place: the porch light, the kitchen, the winter of '78
- Describe what happened there and who it mattered to
- Describing the kind of people a home or street is “for”
- References to race, religion, family status, disability, nationality or “safe”/“exclusive” neighborhoods
Respect for people
- Warm, honest, personal memories, including hard ones told with care
- Slurs, harassment, attacks on neighbors, agents or previous owners
- Accusations you can't stand behind
Privacy
- First names, nicknames, your own contact details in your profile
- Phone numbers, emails or addresses of other people
- Full names of minors
- Photos of people who didn't agree to be posted
Listing and MLS rules (agents)
- Story-led copy about a space you represent
- Listing status pulled from verified data sources
- Claiming a status (for sale, sold, pending) that isn't true
- Reposting MLS photos or data you aren't licensed to syndicate
- Implying licensure, awards or affiliation you don't hold
Photos
- Your own photos, family archives, and public-domain historical images
- Explicit, graphic or violent images
- Images you don't have rights to
- Screenshots of other portals' listings
Flagged items are reviewed by our team, and repeat violations can remove posting access. Reporting a post uses the flag icon on any story or comment.
