We created Homestalgia to help others share their stories, to
highlight
their home’s history
My Dad had a stroke in 2023, he began to slow down, and memories were fading. One day I asked him about growing up in Iowa, about his parents and where they lived. Stories poured out of him, he remembered the address, the neighborhood, old friends, trouble they got into, his first crush, the holidays. It was all centered around his family home. Connecting his memories to a physical space triggered something powerful. I wrote his stories down and shared them with my sisters. They were stunned; these were stories they’d never heard before.
We created Homestalgia to help others share their stories, to highlight their home’s history, its place in the community, and the experiences it has witnessed. In the words of the great Carl Sagan, “Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.” Now, imagine if you could apply this perspective to your home.
Each home, each space, is unique, every one of them has a story to tell. And for the travelers, the explorers, the dreamers – it’s an opportunity to immerse themselves in the stories of homes around the world.
